I Hate Everyone | Uncommon Signs of Depression

Uncommon Signs of Depression Thumb

In this video, I talk about some of the symptoms of depression that aren’t widely known by the general public. If you feel as though any of this relates to your experiences, I encourage you to try to find a therapist or psychologist if you have health care that covers it. If you don’t have health care, there are often clinics that take in patients on a sliding scale for payment, and that’s a great place to start. You might also qualify for assistance in your state if you begin going to a therapist or other healthcare provider, although, with the current administration, I’m not sure that will continue. It’s worth it to just go into social services to see what is available, if anything, as your mental health will affect how you move through life. As always, I’m rooting for you. Take control of your mental health and don’t let anyone tell you it’s silly or not real. You deserve to be happy and to feel supported.

List of Symptoms

Irritability

Irritability, hostility, anger, and sensitivity are all signs of depression, but irritability often signals an additional mental illness such as anxiety.

Pathological Guilt

Pathological guilt about things from a long time ago or things you cannot control and have no responsibility for is a glaring sign of depression.

Inability to Make Simple Decisions

Researchers found that the average person makes simple decisions (ie, would you like coffee or tea?) 65 to 70 times a day, so when you find that you’re stressing small decisions most of the time, it might be a sign that something is wrong.

Disconnect from Bodily Needs

Eating way too much or not enough, often neglecting hygiene, when a person who usually dresses to the nines suddenly lives in sweatpants with unbrushed hair, all of these could be signs of depression.  At the very least, you need to check in on yourself if you’re seeing these symptoms.

Excessive Pains with No Physical Cause

Intense feelings of sadness can manifest as pain in the body.  If you find you are having a lot of headaches or generalized pain with no illness or disorder that a physician can find, it’s a good idea to visit a psychiatrist for a check up on your mental state.  If nothing else, you will be able to rule out psychiatric issues that way.

Excessive ANYTHING, Even “Good Habits”

Whether it’s binge drinking several times a week or chaining yourself to the stairmaster for hours at the gym, surfing the internet all night when you should be sleeping or becoming a workaholic, you are using an activity to avoid thinking and feeling.  True, some addictions are less destructive than others, but don’t let that make you overlook mental health issues just because yours aren’t making you a drug addict.
